Humble Bundle Spins Up A Sonic 25th Anniversary Bundle

by

If you read 8bitwaffles’ last post about the 25th Anniversary of Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog, then this should come as a pleasant surprise. In an effort to celebrate Sonic’s birthday, Humble Bundle has spun onto the scene with a deal that dashes through 25 years of Sonic games!

Starting at one dollar already gets you a great value, bundling the original game that started it all, Sonic the Hedgehog, along with Sonic CD, Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic Adventure DX! These four titles alone are great examples of Sonic games trying something new and getting it right. (It should be stated, however, that this version of Sonic 3D Blast is the Genesis port and, in my humble opinion, is inferior to the Saturn version in just about every way. Unfortunately, the Saturn version can only be found natively and is not included in any ported releases.)
Paying more than the average gets you Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic Adventure Battle 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode l, and Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing with more to be released very soon. If your collection is lacking a little bit in the Sonic department, this tier will give you access to a great portion of the blue mascot’s must-have releases.

The most intriguing aspect of this humble bundle, however, would be the choices for their final tier of $10 or more, which gets you Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode ll, Sonic All Stars Racing DLC for Ryu Hazuki, Sonic Lost World, and the Casino Nights DLC for, my personal favorite, Sonic Generations.

The reason this piques my interest is that it gives the possibility for the second tier’s yet-to-be-released games to include Sonic Generations, which would be a very generous birthday surprise to highlight the end of this month’s lackluster festivities. Now, this could be wishful thinking, so please don’t take this author’s word as a definitive answer to your gaming needs, but in a worst case scenario, the last games have a real great probability of including either Sonic the Hedgehog 3 or Sonic and Knuckles, pushing the value and savings of this bundle to great heights.

And if that wasn’t enough, HumbleBundle is also offering a free Sonic the Hedgehog digital comic sampler with an email submission.
