Disney and Favreau Team For The Lion King

A new collaboration for Walt Disney and director Jon Favreau has been confirmed today.

After the success of The Jungle Book, Disney is eager to push it’s ground breaking CGI technology once again. Jon Favreau, director of Iron Man and The Jungle Book, is teaming up with Disney, this time to adapt The Lion King for modern audiences.

While it will use the same technology of The Jungle Book, the film will follow a similar format as next year’s Beauty and the Beast, by adapting all of the songs from the original into this re-imagining. No release date was announced, but the film is said to on the fast track to production, so expect more news soon!

The Lion King is just the next in a list of Disney’s recent slate of live action retellings, preceded by films like Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast. Stay tuned to 8bit Waffles for more news as it comes!
