Young Justice Season 3 Closer Than Ever?

Today saw some major headway on the road to getting a third season for Young Justice.

UPDATE: It seems that the mentioned redditor has gotten his wires crossed when it comes to Peter David. No meeting between him and Netflix has taken place, but regardless fans are encouraged to keep doing what you’re doing to get Netflix to pay attention.

Ever since Young Justice was cancelled in 2013, fans have been crying out to Warner Bros for a return of the series. The show originally ran on Cartoon Network, but fans have been hoping for Netflix to breathe new life into the beloved series. Several online campaigns and petitions have been created in the last three years, including #RenewYoungJustice trending worldwide on Twitter. This year though is the year that we’ve seen some real traction take place on the renewal front.

So far, we’ve seen creators, actors and writers speak openly about a possible renewal on Netflix. Back in June, show creator Greg Weisman had some advice to fans during a YouTube interview. His advice was to keep watching both seasons on Netflix, buy new copies of the seasons from retailers such as Amazon and iTunes, and buy Young Justice comics. All of these things will help WB see that there is indeed interest in the show.

“Those are the three real ways that we can affect things, and what I will say is that it seems to have had an affect, I don’t have any inside information, but it’s clear that Warner Bros. and Netflix are at least having a conversation. I don’t know if we’re close. I don’t know if we are far away, but the fact they are talking at all, that’s promising. So it’s working, but again, it’s a long haul. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.” -Greg Weisman

He included that the lack of toy and merchandise sales really were at fault for the cancellation of the show. Mattel was the main funding for show, and when the money wasn’t coming back for their toys, their funds stopped coming for the show.

That brings us to today’s news. During Connecticut’s TerrificCon, a redditor spoke with series writer Peter David about Young Justice season 3. During this, David said that views of the first two seasons of Young Justice shot up on Netflix, and due to that the company approached him about the possibility of a third season. While nothing is official, the possibility of a season 3 is closer.

Between Netflix and WB talking, actors being hopeful and even Netflix approaching writers, it looks like this renewal is a very real possibility. So I, as an extremely avid fan of Young Justice ask you to binge it on Netflix as much as possible, buy the seasons and comics if you can afford it and throw in #KeepBingingYJ or #RenewYoungJustice on any tweet of yours with room, let’s show some support and see Young Justice Season 3 come to fruition.

Young Justice Season 1 and 2 are both available on DVD and Blu-Ray through Amazon and iTunes!
