Destiny Rise of Iron launched today at 5am est. Well thats what was supposed to happen.

Unfortunately, and sadly rather predictably, those looking to play the latest expansion to the popular pseudo mmo have been met with the all too familiar launch day server issues. Personally I have experienced errors while trying to connect and also been placed in a queue with over 100,000 people waiting due to servers at capacity.

As we move into an era where most games have online components, when will developers be able to provide servers that will accommodate the predictable surge in players trying to experience the latest release? This is becoming a reoccurring theme for any big online release and is one that companies really need to get a better handle on. Hopefully there will be better news soon for any guardians looking to experience the expansion on its first day of availability.

UPDATE 9.12am est

It appears that the servers are currently working well with no wait times. Let’s hope they continue to handle the stress of large player counts throughout the day.
