Two successful writers are reportedly in talks to write the first live action Pokémon movie.

Alex Hirsch, creator of Gravity Falls and Nicole Perlman, co-writer of Guardians of the Galaxy are currently in negotiations with Legendary, the studio behind the Pokémon movie, according to Variety.

Legendary acquired the film rights for the Pokémon franchise after they were being shopped around in July, with Universal distributing the movie globally. Japanese movie company Toho will handle distribution in Japan.

The first movie is said to be based on the Japanese game, Great Detective Pikachu.
