Alright guys, I am going to take you to another spectrum of games for today. I take you to the land of JRPG’s (Japanese role playing game) and for today I want to talk to you all about a game I just recently finished; Megatagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies.
Now if you haven’t heard of this before it is a spin-off game from the Hyperdimension Neptunia series that was released on the PS Vita and is compatible with the PS TV. But don’t worry folks this game doesn’t require any previous knowledge of the series as it has its own story it follows. To give you a little information about the setting of this series; Games within the series takes place in the world of Gamindustri, which is divided into four regions: Planeptune, Lastation, Lowee, and Leanbox. Each area has a goddess which in the series are called CPU’s who get their power from “shares”; which is the trust from the people of the country each CPU runs. Now let’s get on to the fun stuff, what is this game about you ask? Well it’s a normal day in Gamindustri where your awesome CPU’s are enrolled into a local high school. The high school is in threat of being shut down due to a low amount of students enrolled. Some girls come up with the idea to create a movie to try to bring more students to their school. The plot of the movie revolved around zombies invading the high school; however these girls run into an issue, the students of the school are being turned into zombies. The focal girls go through the story filming the movie while they are fighting the zombies, to try to find the source of the strange occurrence.
This game consists of a solid story mode where you play as a multitude of the Neptunia girls from the series and fight zombies to try and find the solution to this strange occurrence as well as film a pretty off the wall and interesting movie to keep your school from being shut down. You get a chance to try your best against other otakus who bought this game to fill their life with awesomeness in a multiplayer mode (yes I just called myself one as well). As Billy Mays said “But wait there’s more!” there is also a store where you can buy all the cool accessories and weapons for your powerful school girls, as well as change how these girls appear. As far as gameplay goes, it’s a hack-and-slash RPG. Each mission involves waves of enemies that you have to defeat before you could progress further into the story. There is a multitude of creative moves as well as some interesting combo finishers and team finishers for when you play a mission consisting of more than one girl. The fighting is fluid and there is little response lag when it comes to buttons pressed to actions performed on the screen. This game is fairly elegant in one play-through and I enjoyed every moment of the story. The one thing that the series nails down is its artwork. It makes the gameplay worth it alone. I would highly recommend this game to others; it isn’t extremely long so if you’re worried about your back log filling up don’t fear it is a game that can be put down and picked back up whenever you get that spare time. However, it isn’t one of those games you can beat in a single sitting. If you’re into immediately getting platinum achievements in every game you play be aware that this is a bit of a grind and some of those trophies get really intense per required.
Overall in my play through of the game I had only one thing that I didn’t enjoy: the numerous combos/buttons to remember in the missions. However; this wasn’t a downer; the game gave visual prowess, beautifully crafted music and a silly but enjoyable story to enjoy as these girls battled to save their school. If you’re looking for a good Vita game to jump into and enjoy take a journey to the land of Gamindustri with your amazing CPU girls.
