This weekend at the annual Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Las Vegas, Square Enix announced their 2nd expansion for their highly regarded MMO Final Fantasy XIV
At the opening event of the Fan Festival, producer Naoki Yoshida announced that the next expansion in the MMO will be called Stormblood and will release in Summer 2017. The game will focus on the Monk class just as how the Heavensward expansion focused on the Dragoon class. No details were given on the story however it will follow the Dragonsong War event and the events that ended the Heavensward expansion. Some new features that Yoshida revealed that we should expected in the expansion are
- New Job classes, which were not revealed. However Yoshi-P gave us a hint by pointing at his shirt which was of Scarlet Witch. Most likely one of the new classes will be the highly requested Red Mage class. Previous announcements were teased by his shirt as well with The Dark Knight being teased by a Batman shirt and the Machinist class being teased by a 007 shirt
- The Level cap will be raised from 60 to 70
- Revamped battle system which includes an additional skill system overhaul and also enhances actions that or usually unused
- Number and size of new areas will be more than ones introduced in Heavensward
- New Primals will introduced with ones from previous Final Fantasy games and ones original to XIV
- New dungeons and high end raids
- A new area called “The Forbidden Land – Eureka” will be exclusive to Stormblood and will be its own separate area. It will include notorious monsters and could be used to gather new set of high end weapons including Zodiac and Anima
- New gear and Recipes will be added. New gear will consist of fan-designed outfits from previous contests
- Due to server upgrades the Item Inventory will be expanded
- A fourth residential area will be added
- PS3 support will end with Stormblood
