Today EA revealed their plans for the open Beta for Star Wars: Battlefront 2, opening later this year.

Between October 6th and 9th, players on all systems will be able to participate in the open Beta for the next entry in the Star Wars Battlefront series. If you pre-ordered the game at a select retailer, you will receive a code to redeem for early access starting two days early on October 4th. During the Beta, players will have access to two modes: Galactic Assault and Starfighter Assault, each with one map to play on.

Starting with Galactic Assault, players will play on Naboo in the city of Theed where there will be a ground battle that takes place between the Republic’s clones and Separatist droids. Playable classes include: Assault Troopers, Heavy Troopers, Officers and Specialists. Pre-era vehicles and unspecified named heroes will also make an appearance as well.

EA has not revealed much about the Starfighter Assault mode, only mentioning that it will be a space combat mode that takes place during the Original Trilogy. Players will be able to pilot some of the greatest ships in the Star Wars Universe in an objective-based, multi-staged battle.

Those wanting to see game play footage from the Battle of Theed can check out the E3 footage below. EA promised more info for Starfighter mode will be revealed at Gamecom in August.
