Niantic has just posted that the Pokemon Go update is beginning to roll out on Android and iOS!

As previously announced by Niantic, this update will include the new “buddy system” which will allow you to choose one Pokemon in your party and travel with them. While your Pokemon travels with you they will pick up candy which can be used to evolve or boost that Pokemon power.

Included with this new system, the update will also bring some fixes to the application. First off clicking on smaller Pokemon will be easier now, whether this means the hitbox for tapping them will be larger or if they are going to make the Pokemon bigger was not said. They also fixed the animation for egg hatching which would sometimes be skipped when a Pokemon hatched. The update will also fix an issue with the Pokemon Go app freezing or not responding when switching networks connections. This will be nice for people who wander in and out of WiFi spots and thus continually switch between 3G/LTE and WiFi.

In addition to these the update also bring support for the Pokemon Go Plus. The Pokemon Go Plus (shown below) is a watch that will notify you when Pokemon are nearby and allow you to try and catch them without checking your phone. The new peripheral can be purchased starting on September 16th for $34,99.
